Will My Insurance Pay for My Massage Therapy?

Will My Insurance Pay for My Massage Therapy?

Your health insurance might provide coverage for massage therapy if your physician or other medical provider deems that it is medically necessary or if massage therapy is prescribed by your health management organization. If your physician prescribes massage therapy as part of a treatment plan, you may be able to claim it. If covered, the costs may be billed to insurance directly by In2itive Touch & Wellness, or you may have to pay on the day of service and then submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

We can submit your claim for you

Once we determine that direct billing is possible, in order for us to submit claims on your behalf, we will need you to provide us your Policy Number, as well as your ID number, during your visit to In2itive Touch & Wellness. In cases in which you are not the primary insured member, we will need some extra info such as name, last name, and date of birth of the primary insured member.

Direct billing helps to simplify your insurance claim experience.

We are happy to directly submit your massage therapy claim to your insurance carrier on your behalf. However, there are many factors that will determine our ability to directly charge.

Below are some questions to ask your insurance provider prior to your massage treatment.

Direct Billing helps you simplify the claims experience by allowing us to submit claims on your behalf right from our clinic. However, there are many factors which can determine the ability to charge your insurance company directly.

Questions to Ask Your Insurance Provider

Before your first session with In2itive Touch & Wellness, we recommend that you contact your insurance provider and ask the following questions:

  • Does your plan allow Registered Massage Therapists to charge directly to the insurance company?
  • Does your insurance company require a doctor's note to get reimbursed?
  • When does the fiscal year start and finish?
  • How much does the member get per year, and per family member?
  • What is the percentage that the insurance company will pay per treatment? e.g. 80%, 100%
  • Will the funds go to my service provider or the insured member?
